Materials Needed:
Yarn: Worsted Weight Medium #4 (Lion Brand Pound of Love)
Hook: E/3.5
Scissors
Tapestry Needed
Stitch Markers

Stitches, Terms & Abbreviations used:
ST: Stitch
CH: Chain
SC: Single Crochet
SK: Skip
RPT: Repeat
HDC: Half Double Crochet
DC: Double Crochet
SL ST: Slit Stitch

Pattern Instructions: ch2 does not count as first stitch

Work in rounds

Rnd 1: Magic Circle, ch2, dc 10 times in ring, sl st to first dc made. (10dc)

Rnd 2: ch2, 2dc in each sp, sl st to first dc made. (20dc)

Rnd 3: ch2, 2dc in first, 1dc in next, rpt around, sl st to first dc made. (30dc)

Rnd 4: ch2, 2dc in first, 1dc in next two, rpt around, sl st to first dc made. (40dc) stop here if you want to make it small enough to fit a newborn

Rnd 5: ch2, 2dc in first, 1dc in next three, rpt around, sl st to first dc made. (50dc) this should fit 0-3 months

Work in rows

Rnd 6: ch2, dc across, turn. (50dc)

Rnd 7: ch1, hdc in first, sk2, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next, sk2, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next, rpt across till last 3 sps, sk2, hdc in last, turn.

Rnd 8: ch1, hdc in first (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next ch1 sp, rpt across, hdc in last, turn.

Rnd 9-14: rpt rnd 8, do not cast off.

Now we are gonna work on the ties.

Rnd 15: ch41, sc in second ch and across ch (40sc), sc across rim (82sc), ch41, sc in second ch and across (40sc), sl st to last sc on rim of hat.
