Materials Needed
Yarn: Lion Brand Pound of Love
Hook: I/5.5
Tapestry Needle
Craft Scissors
Measuring Tape
Stitch Markers

These sizes are approximate, you can always alter to fit the child you are making it for by making less rounds or less chains.  

Stitches, Terms & Abbreviations used:


ST: Stitch
CH: Chain
SC: Single Crochet
SL St: Slip Stitch

ch2 does not count as a st throughout the entire pattern

Sizes:
0-3 Months, 3-6 Months, 6-12 Months, 12-18 Months, 18-24 Months, 24-36 Months

Finished Measurements:
Chest & Arms length in inches  17 1/2 (19 1/2, 23, 30 1/2, 32 1/2, 36)
Length in inches from top to bottom of sweater: 9 (10 1/2, 12 1/2, 14, 15 1/2, 17)

0-3 Months
Back Panel
Rnd 1: FHDC 54, turn
Rnd 2-8: ch2, hdc across (54hdc), turn.
Fasten off and turn your work around, rejoin yarn on the 13 st
Rnd 9: ch2, hdc in the next 30 (30hdc), turn.
Rnd10-26: ch2, hdc aross (30hdc), finish off.

Front Panels (Make 2)
Rnd 1: FHDC 27, turn.
Rnd 2-6: ch2, hdc across (27hdc), turn
Rnd 7: ch2, hdc in the next 20 (20hdc), turn this is the neck opening.
Rnd 8: ch2, hdc across (20hdc).
Fasten off and turn your work around, rejoin yarn on the side where neck opening is.
Rnd 9: ch2, hdc in the next 15 (15hdc), turn (arm sleeve).
Rnd10-26: ch2, hdc across (15hdc), fasten off.
Weave in all ends and sew front panels to the back panel, turn inside out.

Neck, Collar & Hood
Now we are going to work on the neck.  If you don’t want a collar or a hood all you have to do is sc 3 rows. Sc 38 across neck then repeat 2 more times, fasten off.
If you want a collar just continue on and crochet 5 rounds of hdc (38hdc), fasten off.
If you want a hood just continue to make rounds of hdc until you have a total of 19 rows. Turn hood inside out and sc across to close, fasten off.
Rejoin at bottom left corner and sc (put 2 sc on each corner of sweater) around the entire sweater (including hood) this will give it a clean finish, sl st to the first sc made, fasten off.

Button Band & Button Side
Row 1: Join at the bottom right of the sweater and sc 22, turn (22sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in the next, *ch 2, sk 2, sc in the next 4*, rpt 2 times, ch 2, sc in the last st (14 sc & 4 ch 2 sps) turn.
Row 3: Ch 1,  sc in each sc and ch (22sc), turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc across (22sc), fasten off.

Row 1: Join at the bottom left of the sweater and sc 22, turn (22sc)
Row 2-4: sc across (22sc), fasten off.  Sew buttons to the sweater.

Sleeve Cuffs
Row 1: sc 20 around the sleeve opening, sl st to first sc made (20sc).
Row 2: ch 1, sc in the next 2, sc2tog, sc in the next 2, sc2tog, repeat, sl st to first sc made (15sc).
Row 3-4: sc around, sl st to first sc (15sc).

3-6 Months
Back Panel
Rnd 1: FHDC 64, turn
Rnd 2-10: ch2, hdc across (64hdc).
Fasten off and turn your work around, rejoin yarn on the 17th st
Rnd 11: Ch2, hdc in the next 32 (32hdc), turn.
Rnd 12-30: ch2, hdc across (32hdc), fasten off.

Front Panels (Make 2)
Rnd 1: FHDC 32, turn
Rnd 2-8: ch2, hdc across, turn.
Rnd 9: ch2, hdc in the next 25 (25hdc), turn this is the neck opening
Rnd 10: ch2, hdc across (25hdc).
Fasten off and turn your work around, rejoin yarn on the side where neck opening is.
Rnd 11: ch2, hdc in the next 16 (16hdc), turn (arm sleeve).
Rnd 12-30: ch2, hdc across (16hdc), fasten off.

Neck, Collar & Hood
Now we are going to work on the neck.  If you don’t want a collar or a hood all you have to do is sc 3 rows. Sc 38 across neck then repeat 2 more times, fasten off.
If you want a collar just continue on and crochet 6 rounds of hdc (38hdc), fasten off.
If you want a hood just continue to make rounds of hdc until you have a total of 21 rows. Turn hood inside out and sc across to close, fasten off.
Rejoin at bottom left corner and sc (put 2 sc on each corner of sweater) around the entire sweater (including hood) this will give it a clean finish, sl st to the first sc made, fasten off.

Button Band & Button Side
Row 1: Join at the bottom right of the sweater and sc 24, turn (24sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in the next 2, *ch 2, sk 2, sc in the next 4* rpt 2 times, ch 2, sc in the last 2 sts (16 sc & 4 ch 2 sps) turn.
Row 3: Ch 1,  sc in each sc and ch (24sc), turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc across (24sc), fasten off.

Row 1: Join at the bottom left of the sweater and sc 24, turn (24sc)
Row 2-4: sc across (24sc), fasten off.  Sew buttons to the sweater.

Sleeve Cuffs
Row 1: sc 22 around the sleeve opening, sl st to first sc made (22sc).

Rnd 14: ch2, hdc in the next 38 (38hdc), turn.

Fasten off and turn your work around, rejoin yarn on the side where neck opening is.
Rnd 14: ch2, hdc in the next 19 (19hdc), turn (arm sleeve).
